How do I register my child? You can register online at www.rosemounthockey.org and click on “On-line Registration” There is walk-in registration on September 8 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the upper level of the ice rink at the Are there any other “fees” besides the registration fee? Families who have 1 skater are required to purchase 16 raffle tickets for a total of $160; or 20 raffle tickets for 2+ skaters for a total of $200. This is the Association’s largest fundraiser each season. You can choose to keep the raffle tickets for yourself, or sell them to others for $10 / each. Starting in December, there will be daily drawings for cash prizes. What kind of equipment is needed? Hockey skates, helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin pads, gloves, breezers, mouth guard, athletic cup, garter belt, stick, and hockey bag Does the association provide any equipment? Yes, the association provides jerseys and socks for each player. Goalie equipment is provided for the mini-mite & mite levels. Where can equipment be purchased? Westwood Sports ( ** Westwood Sports offers an equipment package for $194.00 which includes skates, shin guards, breezers, elbow pads, shoulder pads, gloves and helmet. Does my child need to know how to skate? All new skaters are welcome. However, a great program to begin with is the Learn to Skate program sponsored by the Parks & Recreation Department. The next session is September 8 – October 27, 2008. You can register online by September 4, 2008 at www.ci.rosemount.mn.us What is the time commitment involved? Practices are typically held on the weekends with weekday outdoor ice if weather permits. There is also likelihood of some weekday hours at the new Minn-e-Rink in Rosemount. The ’08-’09 season for Mini-Mites and Mites starts around the end of October/beginning of November through March. The Mites will have approximately 38 hours of ice. Are there any games played at the Mini-Mite or Mite levels? Mini-mites will have a few scrimmages amongst themselves; however the focus is primarily on skills development. Mites typically will play 8 games and participate in 2 Jamborees, and will continue to focus on skills development and understanding the game of hockey. What kind of volunteer commitment is required from parents? All families participating in the youth hockey program are required to volunteer (5) hours per skater, maximum of (10) hours shall be required. Families with 2 or more skaters will be required to volunteer (10) hours of time to the association. Prior to your child participating in any on-ice activities, you will be required to submit a volunteer deposit check of $250 for 1 skater or $350 for 2+ skaters. This check will be returned/destroyed at the end of the hockey season if your volunteer hours were completed. What kind of volunteer opportunities are available? Our association relies on families to help run the concession stands at the rink and help out at RAHA sponsored tournaments. Volunteer opportunities will be posted online for opportunities that will count towards your volunteer hours. In addition to those, there are opportunities to help coach a team, be a team manager, or get involved with the Rosemount Youth Hockey Boosters.
