BRIEF OVERVIEW:

Rosemount Hockey (including all levels of RAHA, REV and RHS) is excited to be dedicating the 09-10 season to the 34^th Red Bulls Infantry Division of the Minnesota National Guard, headquartered at RCC, currently deployed in southern Iraq. The suggestion this fall of hockey dad and coach Stan Ancheta, that Rosemount Hockey connect with the Red Bulls--with whom we share RCC--was very well-received by RYHB, RAHA and the High School coaches. While planning, it became apparent that we have two goals in doing this:

1) To show our support and gratitude for the incredible sacrifices made on our behalf by these 1,200 citizen soldiers and their families; and

2) To provide an opportunity for our players to learn about service to others, dedication, character and commitment.

DETAILS OF PHASE 1:

    1)     The Red Bulls will be providing RAHA, REV and RHS players with Red Bulls helmet stickers to be worn the rest of the season as a symbol of support and appreciation.

Important Note: When the stickers are distributed, we ask that coaches and parents take the opportunity to teach players why we are supporting and honoring the Red Bulls by wearing their sticker on our helmets.

    2)     On behalf of Rosemount Hockey, RYHB will be shipping floor hockey equipment to the Red Bulls in Iraq, along with old Rosemount Hockey jerseys--Rosemount hockey in the desert! 

Note: Thanks to Westwood for selling us the floor hockey equipment at cost and for screen-printing numbers on the jerseys for FREE!

3)    Donations of school supplies/children’s items will be gathered and shipped for the Red Bulls to distribute to Iraqi children. All RAHA, REV and RHS players are asked to contribute by placing an item or two in the donation boxes located at RCC lower level and the Pond. Ideas for donations: notebooks, pencils, pens, pencil sharpeners, markers, crayons, coloring books or pencil pouch. DEADLINE FOR DONATIONS: 6:30PM TUESDAY  DECEMBER 8. 

PHASE 2:

The Red Bulls will begin returning home “in waves” at the end of Jan 2010. Players may participate in “welcome home” events. Details will be shared when available. Also, there may be a tie-in with Hockey Day in MN 2010 featuring the Red Bulls and Rosemount Hockey. This may or may not happen, but FSN North is considering a proposal from Red Bulls PR. Stay tuned.
