Recent Squirt B White News

Congratulations to the 2014-15 Squirt B teams for their unbelievable season runs, both ending up in the top 5 of the Youth Hockey Hub Final State Rankings.

It all started at the Irish Hockey Days with the teams playing their annual exhibition.  No one knew at the time that this would be a preview of two of the top teams in the state and the game fittingly ended in a 3-3 draw.  138 days and over 40 games later the two teams would meet again in the seasons final game.  Along the season journey, the players, coaches, parents and siblings were all buzzing about the possibility of both teams making it to this game.  A rematch of epic proportions was on tap and when both teams ended their playoff pool play with 3-0 records, the dream became reality....The District 8 Playoff Championship!

Jeff Tuccitto’s Blue team came in with a #3 state ranking while Scott Carlson’s White team would come in at #4. There could be NO TIES in this game and a fantastic hockey game to a packed house at Wakota Arena would ensue. White would strike first to take a 1-0 lead, but Blue would tie it in the 3rd. Fittingly it would take OT to decide this heavyweight bout and White would get a lucky rebound to take the Championship 2-1.  There were no losers in this game as the season came down to one lucky bounce of the puck and a skater being in the right spot.  It was a true historic epic battle with both teams battling in game 7 Stanley Cup fashion.   It was one proud hour to be an Irish fan and a fitting OT end for two teams who had identical seasons.

How Identical you ask?

The Blue squad would finish with a 35-7-0 record and #4 Final State Ranking at YHH.  They would come home with tournament championships from Cottage Grove, Roseau and Woodbury.  Their two other tournaments were near misses with the first coming at Osseo Maple Grove where a 2-1 loss to the #5 ranked OMG Black team would knock them out of contention.  The second would come in the newly expanded Fargo International Tournament.  This would have been a great year for the Irish to compete for the 64 team title, but the tournament committee had other plans placing them in the 16 team elite division.  Rosemount was one of only three Minnesota teams to be placed in the Elite division and would face All Star teams from the US and Canada.   The boys would battle through the tough treatment with a 1-4 record, but two of their losses came in OT shoot-outs and another was a 4-1 loss to eventual tournament runner-up St Boniface Canada.  Blue’s other awesome season accomplishment was winning the District 8 Maroon Division Title with a perfect 16-0 record where every game was won with at least a 2 goal margin.  Not only did Blue earn their state ranking with their D8 Perfection, but validated it with only 3 in-state losses...1 goal games to #2 ranked Mahtomedi, #5 ranked OMG Black and #3 ranked Rosemount White.  Congratulations to players Tristan Fisher, Ty Hansen, Cadyn Campbell,, Jimmy Nicklay, Carson Blume, Cam Johnston, Jake Toll, Chase Tuccitto, Connor Proshek, Caden Hegarty, Ryker Sabo, Jonah Bergstrom, Jackson Ganser, Henry Stenger, CJ Schwab and Eason Richter.  The team was coached by Jeff Tuccitto, Chris Schwab, Stacy Johnston, Dan Nicklay and Todd Fisher and managed by Eric Hansen.

The White squad would finish with a 37-3-4 record and #3 Final State Ranking at YHH.  They captured tournament championships at The North Metro Pirate Classic, Breezy Point Ice Fest and New Richmond Memorial as well as a 4th place finish at the 16 team Youth Hockey Hub Squirtacular.  Ironically, two of their 3 season losses came at the Squirtacular on the same day with a 3-1 semi-final loss to the Phoenix Jr Coyotes and 4-3 third place game loss to Mahtomedi (YHH Final #2 Ranked Team).  The Boys also Won the District 8 Gold Division Title with a record of 13-1-2 and topped it all off with the District 8 Playoff Championship Title.  Their lone league hiccups came on a 2-2 tie to Farmington who scored with 35 seconds left, a tie to Eagan 0-0 where not one of Rosemounts 37 shots would pass the Wildcat netminder and a 5-3 loss to Lakeville that we just don't like to talk about (Ask Coach C).  The Irish however would get their revenge 7-2 over Lakeville in the final league game of the season.  Congratulations to players Jair Carlson, Tysen Kalata, Michael Nelson, Wyatt Adam, Carson Brandt, Charlie Nagel, Griffin Kranz, Caden Miller, Grant Ancheta, Drew Gullickson, Eli Doran, Dylan Krueger, Chris Hekrdle, Cade Fitzpatrick, Owen Rexing, Evan Kendhammer and Jonah Wangsness on their Dream Season!   The team was coached by Scott Carlson, Clay Kendhammer, Ben Nagel and Tony Hekrdle with Lori Kalata keeping everyone in check on the management side.

Congratulations to Both Teams on the Greatest Combined Squirt B Season in Rosemount Hockey History!

Hockey players have fire in their hearts
and ice in their veins.
