The Minnesota Hockey metro area District Directors created the Junior Gold High School League (formerly Metro Hockey League) over 20 years ago to run a Twin Cities, metro-wide league for all high school-age young men who do not play varsity or junior varsity hockey.

It has developed into a premier place for players to continue improving various skills, including hockey, leadership, and sportsmanship, in an enjoyable environment.
