Peewee A Raise $1112 at Volunteer Project

By LK 03/15/2017, 1:30pm CDT

Congrats to the PeeWee A team for making a difference in their own community.  The boys teamed up with the Rosemount Police Department bagging groceries at Cub Foods for 2 hours over Superbowl weekend.  They ended up raising $1112 and the funds were used to purchase 47 pairs of Nike shoes and 50 pairs of socks.  The shoes and socks were donated to Rosemount Middle and High Schools for the counselors to distribute to children as needed.  Way to go PeeWee A’s!

Peewee A Earns Runner-Up Honors in D8 League

By ck 03/11/2017, 4:15pm CST

11-3-2 in D8 and 30-16-2 Overall

Congratulations to the Irish Peewee A Boys who earned the Runner-Up trophy and Team Medals for their District 8 League 2nd place finish.  The team compiled an 11-3-2 record along the way with two losses to #1 State Ranked Johnson-Como who went 16-0 in District play and 44-4-2 on the season.

District Playoffs would be tough with Johnson-Como a shoe-in for 1 of the 2 region births awarded to our District.  Cottage Grove and IGH wouldn't make things any easier as they finished 3rd and 4th in league play and both were ranked in the Top 25 in State.  Unfortunately the Irish were the odd team out losing to both Cottage Grove and IGH in the playoffs to end their season with Johson-Como and IGH earning Regions.

The PWA's had a great season with an overall record of 30-16-2 earning them a the #20 regular season ranking in the State.  In addition to their 2nd place league trophy, they would earn 3rd Place honors at Hopkins, Faribault and Warroad and a Championship in Faribault winning the coveted Hot Dog Eating Championship trophy.  Congratulations to Head Coach Brian Depaulis, Assistant Jeff Tuccitto, Stacey Johnston and Tony Hekrdle and players Tysen Kalata, Jake Toll, Michael Neslon, Jair Carlson, Chase Tuccitto, Ethan Smith, Will Pasch, Riley Dapaulis, Cam Johnston, Caden Hegarty, CJ Schwab, Grant Ancheta, Carsen Brandt, Ryker Sabo, Drew Gullickson, Carson Blume and Chris Hekrdle,

The Peewee A boys closed out their tourney season with a Bus trip up to Hockey Town USA in Warroad MN.  A tough test was ahead of the #21 ranked Irish with 4 of the 6 opposing teams being ranked in Youth Hockey Hubs Top 20 and Roseau, Alexandria and Warroad all in the Top 10.  The Irish Pool would consist of International Falls, Alexandria and Warroad.  The Irish opened with a nice 2-1 win over #8 Alexandria and then put the “Hurt” on International Falls 14-2.  This setup a bout with host Warroad who came into the tournament ranked #1 in State.  Rosemount would skate with them for a period, but didn’t have the man-power to keep up with their three high end AA quality players eventually falling 7-1.   Back to the hotel for some fun while we wait for the 4 remaining games to play out for Championship Sunday match-ups.  Good news and bad news would come down the pipes as we earned the  3rd overall seed in the 7 team tournament (Yes a team dropped out last minute).  That meant a guaranteed trophy, but also meant a rematch with Warroad as Roseau grabbed the #1 seed on goals against tie-breaker.  So a rare semi-final game with the winner going to the Championship and loser taking 3rd was on tap at Warroads awesome Gardens Arena.  Much of the same dominance from Warroad again would be too much for the Irish to overcome, this time in a 5-1 defeat.  The loss meant ANOTHER 3rd Place Trophy and the boys were called one by one to accept their medals.  FOUR Scheduled Tournaments for the Peewee A boys in 2016-17 and FOUR 3rd Place Finishes with many of the games against associations that do not have AA teams.  We would have liked to get over the trophy hump, but the boys worked hard and earned every one of those 3rds.  Congratulations to all the players and coaches on a great tournament run.  Head Coach Brian Depaulis, Assistants Jeff Tuccitto, Stacy Johnston and Tony Hekrdle.  Team Members Michael Nelson, Tysen Kalata, Jair Carlson, Ryker Sabo, Will Pasch, Cam Johnston, Ethan Smith, Caden Hegarty, Carson Blume, Chase Tuccitto, CJ Schwab, Jake Toll, Riley Depaulis, Carsen Brandt, Grant Ancheta, Drew Gullickson and Chris Hekrdle.
