Squirt A - Salute to Hockey Tournament

The Sq A’s take home  a 1st place trophy in the WSP Salute to Hockey Tournament, with an undefeated record in tourney play.  First up, Lakeville North with a 5-0 win for the Irish.  Goalies Finn and Denny get the shutout.  Scoring for the Irish were:  Toll (3), Nitti and Kegley.  The Irish faced Tartan in second game with a 9-3 victory.  Scoring for the Irish were:  Sherman (3), Toll, VeDepo, Sickman, Garrity, Ganser and Barrett.  Third game gave the Irish a 6-1 win over Sibley, putting them in the championship game for Sunday.  Scoring for the Irish were:  Garrity (2), Barrett, Ganser, VeDepo and T. McCracken.  In the chip, the Irish secured the championship over Farmington, with a 6-4 win.  Scoring goals in the chip were:  Kegley (2), Toll (2), Sherman and Garrity.  Way to go, Irish!  Your first championship trophy of the season!

Squirt A Take 2nd at Burnsville

The Sq A’s take home a 2nd place trophy in the Scott Benedict Memorial Thanksgiving Tournament.  They start the tourney against a tough Apple Valley/Burnsville Firehawks Team.  The end of regulation play ended in a 3-3 tie, moving both teams to a shootout.  The Irish come up short in the shootout, but will take the official tie against the Firehawks.  The second game against Rochester brought a 6-2 win for the Irish, in their 2nd match up of the season.  Scoring for the Irish were:  Toll (2), T. McCracken, Barrett, Sherman and Garrity.  In the semi-finals, the Irish take on Mahtomedi, with another 6-2 win and sending them to the Championship game.  Securing the win for the Irish were:  Garrity, Toll, Sherman, Barrett, Kegley and Heusinkveld.  Great job in net by Denny and Finn!  On hardware Sunday, the Irish would face Minnetonka for the chip.  Irish would come up short against the Skippers team, taking home a 2nd place trophy.  Great job, boys!
